The first official SolarLab workshop, part of the broader SolarNL program, brought together 25 PhD students, all working on innovations to strengthen the local solar PV industry, in a day of collaboration, learning, and industry engagement. Hosted by Delft University of Technology.  The event marked a significant milestone in building a cohesive research community focused on strengthening the Dutch solar photovoltaic (PV) industry.

Building the SolarLab Community

The workshop gathered all current SolarLab PhD students for the first time, offering a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face, exchange ideas, and learn about each other’s research. The atmosphere was one of curiosity and unity, as the students began to lay the foundations for what promises to be a highly collaborative and impactful research journey.

Bridging Academia and Industry

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the broader SolarNL consortium, as industry partners joined the event to present their companies and highlight the practical applications of the ongoing academic work. This exchange enabled students and researchers to better understand the industrial context of their projects and the tangible impact they are working toward.

By connecting the dots between theoretical research and industrial innovation, the workshop showcased the unique interdisciplinary strength of SolarNL.

A Promising Start

With high energy and a collaborative spirit, the first SolarLab workshop set the tone for what lies ahead. The initiative not only fosters cutting-edge research but also plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of solar technology in the Netherlands.
